In order to save you the embarrassment, we’ve compiled a list of signs that will help you navigate murky waters at your workplace. This way you can either make things right with your current job or start looking for a new job opportunity.
#1. You’re being kept out of the loop
Are your subordinates up-to-date on key meetings and important projects that you’ve been a part of, but now you are the only one kept out of the loop? Have you been left off the email chains, as well?
This is the first sign that your boss or the top management no longer feel they need you and little by little are clearing things on your way to exit.
What you can do: This change might hurt but don’t panic. Hold your head high and walk up to your boss and clear things out. Two things will come out of this meeting: 1) Your boss will appreciate your effort and the sense of your realization will make him or her rethink their decision, or 2) They’ll let you know straight, without wasting your or their time.
In case, it’s the second, don’t be disheartened. There are plenty of other opportunities out there. Just because this one didn’t work out for you, doesn’t mean you can’t do better at the next one.
#2. Your aren’t getting as much workload
Off late, all your projects or clients are being delegated to your colleagues and your workload is magically shrinking. Well, there might be a chance that your boss is either making your redundant or slowly preparing the team to work without depending on you, so that when you’re let go in the middle of something, they don’t have to worry about who’s going to handle your responsibility.
What you can do: Take a deep breath and relax. This is not the end of the world. Take it as, some extra time to look for better job opportunities.
#3. Your over-friendly boss has stopped talking to you
If you feel that the police chit-chat is now a thing of the past, or that all conversations are now happening over the email and that too slick and professional. Something is definitely up.
What you can do: If you think it’s because your performance hasn’t been that good lately, try to catch up on that. Get serious and be busy, leave the rest and do your best.
There’s nothing worse than living in a constant state of anxiety, where you fear each time you’re called in the HR office.
